Product Description

Faran, also known as Jambu, is a rare alpine herb from the Onion family, traditionally used in Himalayan cuisines. Growing at elevations of 2500 to 3000 meters, Faran is prized for its distinct aroma and flavor, commonly used for tempering dishes in ghee or oil to elevate the taste of vegetables, curries, soups, pickles, and even meat preparations.

This herb is sourced from the pristine villages of Dhauli Ganga and Pinder valleys, nestled in the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve of Uttarakhand. These valleys are nourished by glacier-fed rivers β€” Dhauli Ganga and Pindar, which bring mineral-rich waters from the Himalayas, lending unique taste and nutritional value to the herbs cultivated here.

Traditionally, Faran is believed to support digestion and help control cholesterol, making it both a flavorful and healthful addition to your meals.

Our Faran is hand-harvested and sun-dried by local women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and brought to you by cooperatives committed to sustainable Himalayan agriculture.
