Product Description:
Black Soyabean, locally known as Kaala Bhatt, is a heritage legume deeply rooted in the food culture of Uttarakhand. Sourced from the pristine Ramganga Catchment area around Ranikhet in Almora district, this traditional pulse is grown under the ancient Barahanaja cultivation system, where up to 12 varieties of millets, pulses, and grains are cultivated together in harmony with nature.
Naturally rain-fed and grown without chemicals, this soyabean variety is renowned for its high protein value, rich fiber content, and remarkable health benefits. Regular consumption is believed to support blood sugar control, manage blood pressure, and strengthen bonesβmaking it a staple in the local Himalayan diet.
A favorite preparation is βBhatt ki Churkaniβ, a delicious and wholesome black soyabean curry enjoyed with steamed rice during colder months in the hills.
Harvested and processed by women-led Self-Help Groups (SHGs), this product embodies purity, sustainability, and the rich culinary legacy of the Himalayas.
